Our closed panel systems
On a 184mm or 140mm closed panel system the external walls are fully fabricated within our factory and are delivered to the site fully insulated with electrical back boxes fitted.
This process is quicker and cheaper than doing it on-site.
Joist platforms
The joist platform is formed using I-beams which have many advantages over softwood joists
These beams can span 7 meters with no immediate support, reducing ground works costs. The beams have knock out holes or metal webbing so that electrical cables can be quickly and efficiently fitted.
Beams and roof structure
For structural beams that are exposed, MRT Homes Ltd uses Glulam beams with the client choosing the type of timber to be used. Hidden beams are generally Versa-Lam or Kerto beams.
Our roof structures all depend on the layout of the timber frame and on the needs of the building. We use soft wood trusses, soft wood rafters, I-beams and A frames.
Exterior sheathing and Fermacell
For the exterior sheathing boards we use OSB3, ply or Panelvent boards. MRT Home Ltd wrap all buildings with a breathable membrane for protection during the build.
Fermacell is used as the internal wall board because it is better for soundproofing than plasterboard. It is also an environmentally friendly product.
